There are four elements of the Optimize section: Allocate, Pareto Table, Pareto Chart, What's In / What's Out, and Value Return on Investment (VROI).
The Allocate optimization engine is designed to calculate the best use of resources to maximize value ( define as a prioritized list of alternatives against stated business objectives.). The allocator solves using your unique business rules and dependencies to create a baseline mechanism for enabling tradeoffs among alternative funding decision. While providing the flexibility to make funding decisions based on the “Reality’ of the business rules and resource constraints.
Use Allocation Scenarios to simulate a range of budget funding levels and resource constraints to determine the key tradeoffs among the prioritized alternatives. Explore the value of different funding options using funding rules that simulate the changing business environment. Balance Portfolio Risk, Strategic Value against expected returns in real world scenarios.
Key Feature Sets:
Allocation Scenarios allow you to save snap shot views of the Portfolio inputs (budget data, costs, funding minimums and outputs (funding results based on changing business rules and resource availability. Use the drop downs to select the scenario and click optimize to see the results.
Data Visualizations - view the results in difference forms via data visualizations. Each visualization provides a unique view of the Optimized Results. Users can vary any constraint and allow for sensitivity in alternative value.
The Pareto Table provides a summary chart of when funding for the alternatives comes on line, based on simulated allocation for both increasing & decreasing total budget available. The Pareto Table takes into account all related funding constraints and dependencies which were populated in the active allocation scenario. The table shows the funding level of each alternative for each simulated budget.
The Pareto Chart shows the various budgets and the highest possible portfolio scores at each budget. The chart identifies the increasing & decreasing marginal splits at incremental budget levels. This provides insights into whether more money will provide a substantially higher return in the Portfolio.
What's In / What's Out
What's In / What's Out provides a table view of the optimization results listing which alternatives received Full, Partial, or No funding. The information being displayed includes the alternative name, priority (based on the alternative performance), resource request funding and funding %.
The VROI chart shows the Bang for the Buck or Value per resource spent. This is constructed by plotting the normalized Benefit/Cost index for each alternative being considered, as well as the individual indices of both the benefit score, and the alternative costs used to establish the ratio. The actual benefit scores and costs can be seen by placing your mouse over any element in the graph.
